Cervical Cancer Treatment
Cervical cancer- It is a type of cancer which grows in cervix, the lowermost part of uterus and sometimes it is also referred as neck of the womb. Most of the cervical cancers are caused by HPV, a sexually transmitted disease.
Cervical cancer is a serious disease which affects around 67000 women in the WHO European region each year. However, the majority of cervical cancer cases are avoidable if we vaccinate against HPV because cervical cancer begins with an HVP infection. HPV is an acronym for Human Papillomavirus which is very prevalent and which is spread by sexual activity. In some women HVP leads to an infection which may cause dysplasia; a kind of abnormality on the cervix and dysplasia on cervix can over time progress to cervical cancer.
When you are vaccinated your immune system is capable of combating most of the type of HPV which can cause cervical cancer. The HPV vaccine is very thoroughly tested and many large studies have shown that the vaccine is safe and effective.
Usually HPV does not show any symptoms in its early stage you can’t say that you have it or not. For women HPV will go away on its own but if it stay in your uterus then there a probability that over the time it may cause cervical cancer. For prevention women should go for regular screening test and Pap smear test.
